How it works
Each step shows whether the sources Peptide Library has reviewed include that kind of research. Counts are reviewed sources, not every study ever published. Reviews and programme summaries that describe human use are shown as "reported", not as trials, and registered trials without published results are listed but not counted. A higher step means research has progressed further; it does not mean a compound works better or is safer. Compounds whose evidence has not been reviewed yet show "Not reviewed" instead of a guess.
Peptide Library's CagriSema profile summarises 5 cited studies listed in the Science section, the compound's regulatory status, and research-protocol parameters reported for it. It is a research reference, not medical advice.
CagriSema dosage evidence
CagriSema has no approved dosage. It is a fixed combination of cagrilintide and semaglutide, and human dosing comes from Novo Nordisk's phase 3 trials, which gave 2.4 mg of each under the skin once a week: in REDEFINE 1, mean weight change at 68 weeks was -20.4% against -3.0% with placebo in adults without diabetes. A lower 1.0 mg + 1.0 mg combination was also tested in type 2 diabetes.

Where sources disagree
- CagriSema doses are given as the amount of each component: 2.4 mg + 2.4 mg means 2.4 mg of cagrilintide and 2.4 mg of semaglutide in the same weekly injection, 4.8 mg of peptide in total. The trials used a fixed-dose product, not two drugs measured separately.
- Semaglutide 2.4 mg weekly is also the Wegovy maintenance dose, but CagriSema is not approved, and its trial results do not belong to semaglutide or cagrilintide alone; see the semaglutide and cagrilintide profiles for each on its own.
- A vial labelled with one strength does not say how that amount is divided between the two compounds. The reconstitution figures below are for the labelled total only.

Science
Mechanism of Action
CagriSema is a fixed-ratio co-formulation of cagrilintide, a long-acting amylin receptor agonist, and semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist, delivered as a single weekly injection. The two act on separate satiety pathways: amylin signalling operates through amylin and calcitonin receptor complexes in the area postrema, while GLP-1 acts on its own receptors in the hypothalamus and brainstem. Because the pathways converge on food intake without sharing a receptor, the combination is intended to produce greater appetite suppression than either alone, and it is being studied to determine whether that translates into additive weight reduction.
Origin
Investigational combination of two peptides.

Storage & stability
Lyophilized (freeze-dried) peptide powder is far more stable than the reconstituted solution. Keep sealed vials cold, dry and away from light; long-term storage is typically frozen, with short-term refrigeration for vials in use.
Once reconstituted in bacteriostatic water, keep the solution refrigerated, avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles and agitation, and label the vial with the reconstitution date and concentration. Discard any solution that turns cloudy or shows particulates.
Degradation rates differ by sequence: peptides containing methionine, cysteine, asparagine or glutamine are more prone to oxidation and deamidation, so shelf life after reconstitution is compound-specific rather than universal.

CagriSema: frequently asked questions
What is CagriSema?
Fixed-dose combination of cagrilintide plus semaglutide in Novo Nordisk Phase 3 REDEFINE programs. Not FDA-approved as of 2026.
How does CagriSema work?

The two act on separate satiety pathways: amylin signalling operates through amylin and calcitonin receptor complexes in the area postrema, while GLP-1 acts on its own receptors in the hypothalamus and brainstem.
Is CagriSema FDA approved?
No. CagriSema is investigational: it is in clinical development and has not been approved by the FDA for any indication. Investigational status means trials are ongoing or complete but regulatory review has not resulted in approval, and efficacy and safety are still being established.
Is CagriSema banned in sport?
CagriSema is recorded here as prohibited in sport. Athletes subject to anti-doping rules should check the current WADA Prohibited List directly, since it is revised annually and classifications change.
What peptides are similar to CagriSema?
Compounds most often compared with CagriSema include Cagrilintide, Pramlintide, Petrelintide and Amycretin. They are grouped by shared mechanism or research area rather than by equivalence, and their regulatory status and evidence base differ.
